Brian Burnett, Senior Vice President for Finance and Operations, the Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer for the University of Minnesota. His system-wide leadership role includes four areas reporting to him including the Office of Human Resources, the Office of Information Technology, University Finance, and University Services. Dr. Burnett is a member of President Eric Kaler’s Cabinet and Senior Leadership Team. He was selected by the Board of Regents to serve as one of the University’s representatives on the Fairview Health Service’s Board of Directors in July 2017.
Dr. Burnett previously served as the University of Missouri System Vice President for Finance and Chief Financial Officer. In this role, he provided financial leadership for the $3.5 billion four-campus system in areas of cash, pension, investment and debt management, facilities planning, real estate, risk management, internal audit, supply chain, budgeting, financial reporting and financial systems management. He previously served as the Senior Executive Vice Chancellor for Administration and Finance at the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs and as the Chief Financial Officer for the Colorado Commission on Higher Education.
Dr. Burnett earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from University of Colorado-Boulder, a master’s degree in finance from University of Colorado-Denver, and a doctor of philosophy in educational leadership, research and policy from University of Colorado-Colorado Springs.
